Xavier Moreno is born in Barcelona and realizes his studies of Piano, Harmony , Choral Conducting and Singing in the Conservatoire of music of the Liceu of Barcelona. His vocal formation is under the guardianship of Ferran Gimeno.
Within the last 5 years lyric-tenor Xavier Moreno has sung the main leading roles of his repertoire and received critical acclaim at renowned German opera houses. Born in Barcelona, he studied voice, piano and choral conducting at the "Conservatori Superior del Liceu" and finished with highest distinction. Further studies led him to Prof. Ferran Gimeno.
After initial experiences in the ensemble of the Theatre Trier, he went on to the Mannheim National Theatre and established there between 2003 and 2008 a remarkable repertoire. Among his biggest successes there have been Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore), Werther (Werther), Alfredo (La Traviata), Lord Percy (Anna Bolena), Duca (Rigoletto), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), and Alfred (Die Fledermaus).
Furthermore Xavier Moreno was invited as guest to perform these roles at such venues like the Seoul Opera House, Tel Aviv Perfoming Arts Center, Staatstheater Hannover, Theatre Dortmund, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Wuppertaler Bühne, Theatre Halle, Theatre Mainz and the Theatre Heidelberg.
Recent remarkable projects were also his debuts at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (January 2009) and at the ABAO - Opera Bilbao (March 2009) as Maese Pedro in Manuel de Fallas El Retablo de Maese Pedro
Important future engagements include his debut at the Ópera National de Paris (Bastille), in September 2009, as Andres in A.Berg’s Wozzeck under Hartmut Haenchen, and a recital Tour in Israel, in February 2010, with the Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem.
His concert repertoire comprises works such as Mozarts and Verdis Requiem, Haydns Creation, Beethovens Christus am Oelberge, as well as Dvoraks Stabat Mater and Requiem. These works he performed with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena di Verona, the Symphonic Orchestra Haifa, the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Northern-Hungarian Symphony orchestra, and many others.
As Liedsinger he appeared in Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Holland, and Germany.
As regular guest he appears at many festivals, among them in 2004 at the Haydn-Festspiele in Eisenstadt as Nencio in Haydns L'Infedelt Delusa, 2005 at the Ruhr Triennale as Schubert in Hans Neuenfels production "Schumann, Schubert und der Schnee" (co-production with the Komische Oper Berlin, with performances there in 2006), and 2007 as Nemorino at the Wroclaw Opera Festival in Poland in Michal Znanieckis production of l'Elisir dAmore.
Among the conductors with whom he has worked there have been Adam Fischer, Frédéric Chaslin, Gyorgy Rath, Will Humburg, Toshiyuki Kamioka, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Catherine Rückwardt, Josep Caballé Domenech, Noam Zur, Cornelius Meister, Enrico Dovico und Axel Kober.
