
Nancy Weißbach - Soprano
(Jugendlich-Dramatischer Sopran)
Born in Berlin, Nancy Weißbach graduated from the Musikhochschule Franz Liszt in Weimar and from the Royal Konservatorium at The Hague with Christina Deutekom and Diane Forlano. She later participated in the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies (Galina Wischnewskaja) and at the Scuola Civica in Milan (Rodolfo Celletti), after which she sang the lead role in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" at the Festival of Ambronay.
From 1999 to 2001, under contract as principal soloist, at Südthüringischen Staatstheater at Meiningen, Nancy Weißbach played the roles of the Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) and Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) in new production, both of which she reprised in 2001/2002. She was also invited to interpret the Princess (Rusalka) in 2002, 2003 and 2004 at the Staatstheater at Schwerin.
In 2002 she sang Chrysothemis for Opéra National du Rhin, Strasbourg in a new production of "Elektra" directed by Stéphane Braunschweig, a role which she recreated in the same year at L'Opéra National de la Monnaie, Brussels and then in 2003 in Mannheim.
In Mai and June 2003 she sang Gutrune and third Norn (Götterdämmerung) at the Théatre du Capitole in Toulouse, directed by Pinchas Steinberg and staged by Nicolas Joel.
She performed under the baton of D. Inbal Beethovens 9th and Mahlers 2nd Symphony as well as the title role in "Euryanthe" at the Opéra du Rhin, Strasbourg in 2004.
In the same year she sings Ariadne at the Theatro Lirico "Guiseppe Verdi" in Trieste followed by Agathe (Der Freischütz) at the Opéra Royale de Wallonie, Liège in March 2005.
Future Projects are Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito) directed by Uwe-Eric Laufenberg in Berlin, the Marschallin atteh Israeli Opera under Maximillian Schell and conducted by Asher Fisch, Ariadne in Limoges as well as The Governess (The Turn of The Screw) in Liège.
