Zur's debut performances in season 2009-2010 included Bratislava Radio Orchestra - October 2009, Vienna Volksoper Die Zauberflöte - January 2010, Milan - I Pomeriggi Musicali - February 2010 & Teplice - Northern Czech Philharmonic Orchestra - May 2010 During the 2008-2009 season he led the new productions of Borodin’s “Prince Igor”, Verdi’s “Nabucco”, and Roland Petit’s ballet version of Delibes’ “Coppelia”, as well as the revival of La Bohème in Essen. He also conducted repertoire performances of Don Giovanni, Turandot, Die Zauberflöte, Tannhäuser, and Das Rheingold, a.o. With the Transilvanian State Philharmonic he initiated a cycle of concerts of the First and Second Viennese Schools, performing the first performances of several pieces of Webern and Berg in Cluj. During the 2007-2008 season, Zur conducted productions such as Turandot, La Bohème, Tosca, and Carmen as well as Symphonic repertoire and concerts in Essen. As a guest conductor he appeared with orchestras such as the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, Germany, the Filarmonia Transilvania, Cluj, and the Johannesburg Philharmonic in South Africa. During 2005-2007, Noam Zur was Principal Resident Conductor and Deputy Music Director of the Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra of Heidelberg, Germany.

The 2009-2010 season will see him heading Delibes' "Coppelia" and the premiere of "La Sylphide" with the Aalto Ballet Company. As part of the European Cultural Capital festivities of Essen, he will be in charge of the Aalto Opera Theater's new productions of Henze's "Elegie für Junge Liebende" and a concert version of Bizet's "Les pêcheurs des Perles". Furthermore, he will conduct the revivals of "Nabucco", "Carmen", and numerous repertoire performances throughout the season.
Season 2010-2011 will take Noam Zur for a tour with the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Hessen in Israel (September October 2010), debut with the Israel Camerata (December 2010), Belgrade Philharmonic (February 2011), Varna & Sofia Opera in Bulgaria, Moscow Virtuosi (May 2011) and will return to Wiener Volksoper for a couple of productions Fledermaus (September 2010 and Hänsel & Gretel December 2010 January 2011) as well as to the Filarmonia Transilvania, Cluj.
In 2006, Maître Pierre Boulez chose Noam Zur as his assistant as well as consultant and conductor for the Lucerne Festival Academy (2006-2008).
There, Mr. Zur conducted Don Giovanni, La Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Werther, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Frau Luna, Der Wildschütz, Berenice (J.M. Staud), St. Nicolas (B. Britten), The Student Prince, and the European premiere of Daniel Catán's Florencia en el Amazonas, as well as many symphonic and choral works.
In April 2007 he conducted his debut at the Aalto Theater in Essen in the Stefan Herheim production of Don Giovanni (cast included Silvana Dussmann and Helen Donath, a.o.).
Born in 1981, he is one of Israel's most prominent young conductors today. Starting at only 20 years of age, Mr. Noam Zur participated in various International competitions and was invited in 2005 to conduct his debuts with the Israel
Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the Bochumer Symphoniker In April 2005, Mr. Zur gave his German Opera Debut with
G. Verdi's "La Traviata" in the Opera of Heidelberg.
Between the years 2001 and 2005 he conducted concerts with orchestras such as Orchestra of the State Opera of Kassel (Germany), the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Beer Sheva Sinfonietta, the Ashdod Chamber Orchestra, the Northern Israel Symphony, Haifa, and the Jerusalem Radio Symphony Orchestra, IBA.
In October 2004, Noam Zur conducted in the JMI Word on Music Series in Johannesburg, marking his South African debut, and a tour of several
concerts with the Club UNESCO-sponsored "Orchestre pour la Paix"
in France and Belgium. In September 2003, Noam Zur conducted a concert tour of Austria,
Germany, and Switzerland with the Swiss festival orchestra "I Sinfonietti
01".
Upon his return from Besançon (September 2001), Mr. Zur was appointed the assistant conductor at the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and was invited to conduct the world-premiere of Menachem
Zur's "Concerto for Orchestra
(
)" with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, IBA in March 2002.
Noam Zur has participated in master-classes and seminaries with
conductors and teachers like Zubin Mehta, Leonard Slatkin, Prof. Ilya Musin,
Klaus Weise, Neeme Jarvi, Jorma Panula and others, at locations such as
the Tel-Aviv University, the David Oistrakh Festival in Parnu,
Estonia, and the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival in Germany. Mr. Noam
Zur has been a member of the Dirigentenforum des Deutschen Musikrat
since 2003.
At the age of 17, Noam Zur started his Bachelor's Degree in Music
and Philosophy at the Tel-Aviv University, where he graduated summa cum laude
in 2002 and continued his studies with Prof. Noam Sheriff, and
Mr. Itay Talgam. During the course of his studies he regularly conducted the Tel-Aviv
Academy Symphony Orchestra, the Tel-Aviv University Chamber players, the Raanana
Symphonette Orchestra, among others.
Fluent in German, Hebrew, and English, Mr. Zur was educated
in Israel, Germany, and the United States, starting his musical studies at the
age of 4 with the piano, and continuing with trombone at the age of 10.
